Do I need a bookkeeper if I'm a sole trader?

You're not legally required to use one — but most sole traders who switch to a professional bookkeeper find they save money overall. They claim more expenses correctly, spend less time on admin, and avoid HMRC penalties from incorrect records. It also makes your annual tax return much faster and cheaper to prepare.

How often will you update my books?

We offer monthly bookkeeping as standard, which is what most businesses need. We can also work quarterly if your transaction volume is low, or weekly if you're a busier operation. We'll recommend the right frequency for your situation.

What do I need to give you each month?

With cloud accounting and bank feeds set up, very little. Your transactions come through automatically. You may need to provide receipts for specific purchases, or clarify the purpose of certain payments — but we make this as painless as possible, often using a simple app to snap receipts on your phone.

Can you take over from my current bookkeeper?

Yes. We handle transitions regularly. We'll contact your existing bookkeeper to request access to your records, then review and tidy up the data before taking over. In most cases, the handover is seamless.
