We founded Clarity Accounting in 2018 with one goal: to make professional accounting accessible and understandable for every small business owner in Stockport and beyond.

Who we are

A proper local accounting practice — without the stuffy office

Clarity Accounting was set up in 2018 by Tom Fielding FCCA after years working in larger practices and seeing the same problem time and again: small business owners paying for an accountant they could never actually get hold of, getting bills they didn't understand, and feeling like a nuisance for asking questions.

We do things differently. You get a named accountant who knows your business, fixed fees you agree upfront, and plain-English answers when you need them. No jargon, no hidden extras, no calling a call centre.

We use cloud accounting software — Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent — so you can see your finances in real time and we can collaborate without the need to dig through paper records. And we're fully Making Tax Digital compliant, so you're prepared for whatever HMRC brings next.

Today we look after over 200 clients across Stockport, Didsbury, Wilmslow, Macclesfield and the wider South Manchester area. Most of our client relationships started with one conversation — and many have been with us from day one.

Tom Fielding FCCA

Founder & Principal Accountant

Tom qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2012 and spent six years in practice before founding Clarity in 2018. He's a Xero Certified Advisor and FreeAgent Certified Accountant, and he's worked with everyone from plumbers and photographers to recruitment agencies and property developers.

Tom grew up in Stockport and cares deeply about helping local businesses thrive. When he's not doing accounts, he's watching Stockport County or walking in the Peak District.
